Crisis Counseling
(48-hour Appointment)

Life’s challenges often come without warning, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and in need of immediate support. We understand that waiting for weeks to get help isn’t always an option. That’s why we’re introducing a new service designed to provide quicker appointments during times of crisis. Whether you’re facing a sudden loss, major life transition, or emotional distress, we're here to offer compassionate and professional care when you need it most. Don’t face the storm alone—help is on the way.

WHAT IS CRISIS COUNSELING?

Crisis counseling is a short-term, focused form of support designed to help individuals navigate overwhelming situations or emotional distress. It’s typically offered to those experiencing sudden life events such as grief, trauma, relationship challenges, or other personal crises. The goal is to provide immediate emotional support, stabilize the individual, and develop coping strategies to manage the situation safely and effectively. Crisis counseling focuses on helping individuals regain a sense of control, explore their feelings in a safe space, and identify the next steps toward recovery or long-term solutions. It’s not about solving every problem but providing a vital lifeline during critical moments.

how does it work?

Booking a crisis counseling appointment guarantees a session with Joel Daugherty, MA, LPC-S within 48 hours, usually at 8:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., or 5:30 p.m. the same or following business day (if these times don't accommodate your schedule, other options may be available but are not guaranteed). The session is 45-50 minutes and can be scheduled for in-person, phone, or video, and DOES NOT include Friday afternoons, weekends, or holidays.

How much does it cost?

The cost for crisis counseling is $300 per session and must be paid for in advance. The session fee is non-refundable if the client does not show up for his or her session and cannot be credited toward any other sessions.

can i use my insurance?

Crisis counseling sessions are cash pay only.

what types of crises do you help with?

Sessions are not limited to a specific type of crisis and may include sudden loss, relationship breakdowns, traumatic life events, etc. Sessions may include romantic partners, teens, and other family members at no additional charge.

do i need to be a current client?

No, new and current clients are encouraged to seek out crisis counseling, as needed. New clients must complete all intake forms before their session.

what happens if I need more help after crisis counseling?

If you find that you need additional support after crisis counseling, we’ll work together to create a plan tailored to your needs. This may include transitioning to ongoing therapy to address deeper concerns, connecting you with specialized resources, or providing referrals to other professionals or services that can help. The goal is to ensure you have the tools and support you need for long-term well-being.
